Banana Cinnamon Breakfast Smoothie

September 27, 2014

Yep, it’s that time of year where I put cinnamon in absolutely EVERYTHING. It’s amazing how one ingredient can change this from being a fresh summery smoothie to an autumn breakfast perfect for chilly mornings.

Smoothies are fast becoming my go-to breakfast. If you’ve got a blender they’re so simple to whip together and the frozen banana almost makes it taste like a milkshake which frankly is fantastic for something so healthy! I’ve used almond milk because I love the nutty flavour it adds but any milk will work so just use whatever you’ve got on hand.

Banana Cinnamon Breakfast Smoothie

Serving Size: 1 smoothie

Banana Cinnamon Breakfast Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 peeled & sliced banana, frozen
  • 350ml almond milk
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp honey

Instructions

  1. Put the frozen banana and almond milk into a blender and process until fully blended .
  2. Add the cinnamon and honey and blend until mixed.

Notes

I usually peel, slice and freeze the banana the night before but an hour or two in the freezer should be long enough.

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

I’m not going to lie, as a baking novice I just about had a panic attack when I saw that this week’s GBBO theme was ‘advanced dough’! Once I pulled myself together though, I realised that this was the perfect opportunity to try out something I’ve been meaning to make for far too long. I’m not really sure what constitutes advanced dough for Paul and Read Post

Cocoa Peanut Butter Energy Bites

Cocoa Peanut Butter Energy Bites

Today I’m sharing a bit of a healthier snack for you. These little energy bites are packed full of good stuff and are great for satisfying a sweet tooth without putting you into a sugar coma (something that’s becoming a little too regular an occurence lately!). The dates make these beautifully fudgy and sweet, exactly how I like my healthy snacks 😉 I’ve kept it quite light Read Post

Pecan Pinwheels with Cinnamon Glaze

Pecan Pinwheels with Cinnamon Glaze

This week I took on the feat of making danish pastry from scratch and, well, it didn’t go so great. Had I realised beforehand just how time consuming and complicated this particular type of pastry is I probably would have saved it for another time, but once I’d got my mind set on these pecan pinwheels there was no going back! Now don’t get me Read Post

Rocket & Basil Pesto

Rocket & Basil Pesto

With all the Great Blogger Bake Off fun that’s been going on here lately you’d be forgiven for thinking that I spend my life eating cakes and pastries, but believe it or not I’m just as big a fan of savoury cooking too. This rocket and basil pesto has been a kitchen staple recently – it’s so quick and easy to put together and can Read Post

Sacher Torte

Sacher Torte

I have to be honest, when I saw that this week’s theme was ‘European Cakes’ I did have a bit of a mind blank. I mean, I’ve eaten plenty of cake whilst in European countries, but I couldn’t think of anything that was actually of distinct European origin. So, I took to Google, where this Austrian delight caught my eye above all the other European Read Post

Rhubarb & Ginger Hand Pies

Rhubarb & Ginger Hand Pies

I have to admit, I was a little nervous when I saw that this weeks GBBO theme was pastry, but after deciding just to go for shop bought pastry (Paul Hollywood would be horrified) I got rather excited about it. I settled on rhubarb and ginger hand pies within minutes. My gran is pretty much the queen of rhubarb crumble and it’s almost always the highlight Read Post
