One of my favourite things about summer is the longer, lighter nights. Granted, there aren’t too many chances to sit out and enjoy them in Scotland, but when the sun does make an appearance I jump at the chance to spend an evening outside.
I was recently sent some fantastic sparkling wine from Waitrose Cellar, so Ricky and I packed ourselves a little picnic and headed out. We’re lucky enough to live only a stone’s throw away from Inverleith Park so it made the perfect spot to relax with some food and a chilled glass of wine.
Nyetimber Classic Cuvée is a light, refreshing sparkling wine made in West Sussex. I first tried it as part of the wine flight at The Three Chimneys and found it incredible that such a fantastic wine was made on British soil! I’ve been meaning to buy some ever since so I was thrilled to discover that Waitrose Cellar stocks it.
You can find out more about sparkling wine (plus some cocktail recipes!) on the Waitrose Cellar website. Next time I’ve got something to celebrate, I’ll know exactly where to look!
How have you been making the most of the longer summer evenings?
Note: the wine featured in this post was provided by Waitrose for review, along with a voucher for picnic food. As always, all words and opinions are my own. You can read my full disclaimer policy here.

How lovely! I haven’t had a picnic yet this summer, must do before it gets too cold again! x

This looks like a great way to make the most of a nice summers evening. And you are so right, there have definitely been far to little of them this year! I’m still holding out for a nice August. Also you are so lucky to live year Inverleith Park, it’s such a lovely area 🙂
