Today’s post is all about buying, cooking with and eating organic ingredients. To celebrate The Soil Association’s Organic September campaign Waitrose challenged me to switch to organic ingredients for one meal a day, for 7 days. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll no doubt have seen some snaps of what I’ve been eating!
I have to be honest, I’ve fallen into the habit of eating the same things most days lately, so this was a good excuse to get a bit more creative. It was also a nice reminder that it’s important to think about where our food actually comes from.
If you’re interested in reading more about the benefits of eating organic foods, there’s lots of information on The Soil Association website. For me, the most important thing is that organic farming practices ensure animals truly are free range and enjoy high welfare standards.
So, here’s what I whipped up:
I’ll be sharing recipes for some of these over the next week so keep your eyes peeled for that!
The majority of the ingredients I used came from the Waitrose Duchy Organic range. I was really impressed with how much choice the range offered – so much so that I spent ages deciding what to cook!
Perhaps rather oddly, my absolute favourite product form the range was the salted butter. I know a lot of people probably don’t think too much about what butter they buy but, as someone who likes to slather copious amounts of the stuff on bread – healthy, huh 😉 – I really notice the difference in quality. And let me tell you, this passed the bread & butter test with flying colours!

Love the sound of this! I’ve set myself the challenge of following a Pescetarian diet for September, so far so good. It really makes a difference when you try a new recipe or cook with different ingredients doesn’t it!
